Mid-November is that awkward time of year where a lot of people will start thinking that they may as well wait until January to start their fitness journey. It’s an understandable mindset, with Christmas parties and the festive break on the horizon, but here’s why you should seize the moment and start now!
There’s 6 weeks to go until the new year, that’s plenty of time to get some fantastic results. It’s more than enough time to lose 4 or 5 kilos, build up to lifting bodyweight plus on the squat or deadlift, and most importantly, build healthy habits so that you can hit the new year running, rather than starting on Jan 1st based on it being a different date on the calendar! (I’ll let you into a secret, your body doesn’t know the difference!)
Long term health and fitness is about habit building and discipline. The best results we see are from clients who build long term sustainable fitness into their lives. Now is a great time to start. Even with social events booked in, imagine if you can go from zero gym sessions a week to two a week, and from 4,000 steps to 10,000 steps a day, and from eating depending on you feel, to making sensible choice about what you eat. By the start of 2026, that’s be twelve hours of gym work rather than zero, with the benefit of burning lots of calories and learning how to lift, which will give you lessons that last a lifetime. That’s also potentially 420,000 steps, rather than 168,000 steps, and therefore over double the amount of your general activity levels compared to normal. With some sensible food choices, you could easily save you a few thousand calories a week and more importantly, make you feel energised and alive.
“Every morning you have two choices: continue to sleep with your dreams or wake up and chase them.” Arnold Schwarzenegger
